Former aQuantive executive Mike Galgon has led a $315,000 investment in EnergySavvy, the Seattle startup which has created an online tool designed to help people save money on their energy bills. Galgon, who co-founded aQuantive in 1997, had some obvious connections to the company.
EnergySavvy's chairman is none other than Karl Siebrecht, the former president of aQuantive's Atlas unit and current CEO of Seattle startup AdReady. The startup -- which introduced service in February -- had previously raised about $500,000.

Home owners fill out a detailed survey on EnergySavvy's Web site about their home, and then the company provides an energy efficiency score based on the responses. It also allows home owners to find contractors who specialize in energy-efficiency and peruse possible rebates and tax refunds. Most recently, the company added a comparison tool which allows home owner's to compare their energy efficiency levels with similar homes in the area.
EnergySavvy co-founder Aaron Goldfeder said they've also just announced their first software-as-a-service customer: Next Step Living in Boston. And the former Microsoft manager expects more customers to sign on soon.
"Basically, we are overrun with customer interest," he said. "So we need to scale up to handle it - mostly hiring developers."
The company's first utility customer is expected to come on board by the end of this quarter, with Goldfeder adding that two other large customers are in the final stages of negotiations. "Practically every week we get requests to join in utility deals, SaaS deals with energy companies and grant applications," he said.
As we've pointed out before, EnergySavvy has plenty of competition in the form of Microsoft's Hohm service and Google's PowerMeter service.
