Amazon.com Chairman and CEO Jeff Bezos sold 2 million shares of his company May 3-5, netting approximately $267 million, according to a Wednesday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The sale occurred prior to today's wild stock market gyrations.
Bezos sold the same number of shares — 2 million — in February for about $234 million. It's not clear what the e-commerce mogul is doing with the money. He does invest his own personal funds in startups, most recently health care company Qliance Medical Management, and has his own space flight project, Blue Origin.
After this week's stock sale, Bezos is still a big owner of Amazon, holding 90,158,027 shares of the company, according to the SEC filing.
