Sixteeen startup teams have been chosen to participate in the Pacific Northwest edition of the Cleantech Open, a competition which awards innovation in the clean tech sector. The teams -- developing projects in everything from tidal energy to electric scooters to high performance spark plugs -- will receive advice from local business leaders. They also will compete for three $30,000 prizes, with the ability to move on to a national competition this fall. Below is a list of the 16 finalists:

--Clarian Power – plug and play, energy efficiency hardware – Seattle, WA
--Columbia Power Technologies – wave power technology – Corvallis, OR
--Current Motor Company – electric scooters – Ann Arbor, MI
--CyVolt Energy Systems - fuel cell technology to recharge lithium batteries – Seattle, WA
--EnVitrum – construction materials from recycled waste glass – Seattle, WA
--Greenstone International – green road materials – Seattle, WA
--Hydrovolts – in-stream, hydrokinetic power – Seattle, WA
--Innovatus Energy – biomass energy platform – Seattle, WA
--LaserMotive – wireless power transmission – Kent, WA
--Mercurius Biofuels – cellulosic biofuel technology – Ferndale, WA
--Nanocel, Inc. – liquid cooled, plastic heat sinks – Seattle, WA
--Puralytics – LED-based water purification – Portland, OR
--viaCycle – bicycle sharing technology – Atlanta, GA
--Zebigo – online, on-demand ride sharing community – Spokane, WA
