Ingvar Petursson is leaving the chief information officer position at online travel giant Expedia. A spokeswoman for the Bellevue company confirmed the departure in an interview with TechFlash, saying that Petursson planned to "pursue a new opportunity."
A source tells TechFlash that Petursson -- who previously held executive roles at Corbis, AT&T Wireless and Regence -- plans to join Nintendo. His role at Nintendo, with North American operations in Redmond, were not known. We have calls and emails into Nintendo, and we'll update this post when we hear back.
Petursson spent two years at Expedia, and his last day will be Friday. Dave Kuhl, vice president of architecture, will take on the CIO title on an interim basis.
"We thank him for his contributions to Expedia and wish him the best in his next endeavor," the Expedia spokeswoman said.
