The crowd looks on as Adam Harris of Concur competes in last year's tournament.
Get ready for some fun. Our annual TechFlash Summer BBQ and Ping-Pong Tournament is set for July 28 at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle. We've been looking forward to this for a long time, and we hope you can join us for one of our most popular events.
This year, we've moved to a larger venue, added a second ping-pong tournament to accommodate players of different skill levels and added an entirely new competition: foosball. With World Cup fever hitting the city, we'll be honoring the tabletop version of the game with its own tournament.
Even if you're not planning to compete in any of the tournaments, the event will be a great place to hang out with other Seattle-area technology geeks, investors and entrepreneurs, and cheer on your company's best spinmasters and goal scorers. You can buy tickets for the event or sign up for the tournaments on the registration page.
We're lining up great prizes, and we'll once again institute the popular "Spirit Award" for the person who offers the most colorful display of corporate pride. We've got a few other special surprises in store.

This year's ping-pong tournament will be broken into two brackets, one for experts and one for intermediate players so make sure to sign up in the appropriate category. Meanwhile, the inaugural foosball tourney will feature two player teams, so we're hoping that some heated tech rivalries emerge. (We're already expecting a major ping-pong smackdown between venture capitalists Jon Staenberg and Greg Gottesman).
Deadline to register for the tournament is July 14, and slots are filling up fast. We'll announce the brackets in mid-July. If you missed out on the fun last year, here are a few highlights from Weber Shandwick.
A big thanks to our sponsors for their support: Barokas PR, BDO, Bing, KeyBank, and R2integrated. For additional sponsorship opportunities, please contact Joe Heslet at jheslet@bizjournals.com.
We'd also like to thank our "Friends of TechFlash" for their support: AdHost, Debra Seifert Communications, Evergreen Venture Capital Association, Extended Results, Is That Odd, and Marchex. You or your company can join them in their support -- receiving exposure at the event and in related posts on the site -- by choosing the "Friends of TechFlash" premium option on the registration page.
