A new law taking effect Thursday will make it a primary offense to talk, text or surf the Web on a cell phone from behind the wheel without a hands-free device. It was already illegal in Washington state to drive a car while holding a cell phone, but it was a secondary offense which meant police officers needed to bust drivers for another traffic violation first. Now, under the new law, drivers can be pulled over by police if they are spotted holding a cell phone. That might be bad news for Seattle area texters and talkers. So, we're wondering what impact the new cell phone law will have on your behavior in the car.
Those nabbed under the law will receive a $124 ticket, though King 5 reports that it won't appear on a driver's record or reported to one's insurance company.
