Teachers typically discourage students from wasting their time with mind-numbing video games. But that argument just won't work for Steve Wiebe, an algebra teacher at Finn Hill Junior High in Kirkland. It was announced this week that Wiebe will be inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held August 7 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Wiebe is the former record holder of Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr., and was the subject of the hit documentary film "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters."
Here's the hilarious trailer for that film, which casts Wiebe against the video game villain Billy Mitchell.
Twenty eight other luminaries will be honored at the video game induction ceremony, including Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and Donkey Kong, and Ralph Baer, the creator of Simon.
