Biotech pioneer Leroy Hood's new startup company, Integrated Diagnostics, has pulled in an additional $10 million in funding as part of its previously announced series A financing deal. The Seattle company said that the new cash will be used to develop its blood-based proteomic programs to detect diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's at the earliest stages.
Integrated Diagnostics tapped Albert Luderer -- the former CEO of Bellevue-based Light Sciences Oncology -- as CEO in March.
As part of the financing deal, BioTechCube of Luxembourg has joined in the investment round and Patrizia Luchetta has been added to the board. Other investors in the company include InterWest Partners and The Wellcome Trust.
Integrated Diagnostics was co-founded by Caltech chemistry professor Jim Heath, Battelle Memorial Institute Vice President and ISB professor David Galas and ISB scientific director of special projects Paul Kearney. It announced a $30 million venture round last October.
