Mossberg Solution's Boehret gives thumbs up to Swype
The positive press keeps coming for Swype, the Seattle startup which has created a new way to input text on mobile devices. The latest endorsement comes from Katie Boehret of The Wall Street Journal and The Mossberg Solution who tested the text-input technology on a Motorola Droid X, one of 10 devices where Swype comes preloaded.
"Like all on-screen keyboards, Swype takes some adjustment, but typing can be more accurate, feels faster—and more entertaining—the more you use it," Boehret writes.
The review comes a little over a month after David Pogue of The New York Times gave Swype a try. But Pogue wasn't quite as impressed, saying that it can take longer to "swype" than tap in some instances.
Swype, founded by Cliff Kushler, the co-creator of the Tegic T9 text input technology, raised a $5.6 million second round of funding from Samsung, Nokia Growth Partners and Benaroya Capital last December.
