Ordering pizza might be getting a little easier, thanks in part to a new iPhone and iPad application from Bellevue startup Order Mapper. The three-person company -- founded in January 2009 by Jim Bricker -- just surpassed 100,000 downloads of an app which attempts to make ordering that pepperoni and sausage thin crust from the neighborhood pizza shop a breeze. We caught up with Bricker -- a former systems analyst at Microsoft and Avanade -- for the latest installment of Startup of the Week.
What’s your elevator pitch — in 140 characters or less... We make ordering anything from a mobile device fast and easy, the way it should be!
We came up with the idea for the startup... On the golf course. We wanted to make it easy to order food or drinks right from the golf course.
The word that best describes our company culture is... Possible.
We are different from the competition because... We never require emails, accounts, or passwords. Our apps are 100 percent native and work with ANY pizzeria. We make it easy to order and never require an account.
Jim Bricker
The biggest challenge we face is... Time. It took the industry 10 years to embrace online ordering.
We’ve raised... $70,000.
If we had $3 million, we’d invest in... Our team.
The oddest thing about our company is... We have a Microsoft back-end and an Apple front-end. Android and Windows Phone 7 are coming soon.
The one thing missing from our business is... Waste, we are super lean.
We won’t fail because... "Can't" never did anything.
