Bellevue-based HomeSavvi, an online repository of home remodeling tips and professionals, has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with The Seattle Times Company. As part of the deal, The Seattle Times has agreed to boost exposure for the startup through links and other marketing efforts on the Times' network of Web sites. HomeSavvi Chief Executive Villette Nolan called it a "significant" partnership, expanding the company's reach in Western Washington and possibly opening the doors to partnerships with other media companies.
As part of the deal, The Seattle Times will drive traffic to the resource directories and articles at HomeSavvi. The two companies plan to split advertising revenue.
Nolan said that the deal is a win-win for both companies, with HomeSavvi offering compelling content for an important part of the local economy and The Times providing exposure. "We didn't have the juice to market as extensively as The Seattle Times can," said Nolan, adding that the remodeling segment of the U.S. economy is valued at more than $240 billion.
Alan Fisco, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Seattle Times Company, added in a release:
“We are constantly looking to find new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our readers and advertisers, and to enhance our online presence with current and expert information. The quality experience HomeSavvi provides to homeowners who look to remodel, and to remodeling professionals who look to reach those homeowners, will be a great addition for our readers and advertisers.”
