Simonyi hires space tourism guru as Intentional Software president

Charles Simonyi, the former Microsoft Office chief better known in recent years as a space tourist, is bridging those worlds with the hiring of Space Adventures chairman Eric Anderson as the president of his Bellevue-based Intentional Software Corp.
According to a news release, the two have known each other since 2004, when Simonyi worked through Anderson's company to make the first of two trips to the International Space Station. Based on his comments in the release, Simonyi's expectations of Anderson at Intentional are just as lofty.
“Eric is truly an outstanding entrepreneur. ... He’s one of very few who can take futuristic ideas and make them real. I founded Intentional Software with the idea of transforming the way software is built and knowledge is used, by allowing the true intentions of today’s knowledge workers and business experts to be precisely expressed in the software they need. This remains an audacious goal, and the magnitude of its difficulty is exceeded only by its importance to the future. Software as we know it is the bottleneck in the digital horn of plenty. With Eric joining me in our business, I am confident that Intentional will unstop the bottleneck and change the world.”
