Microsoft has picked up yet another former Yahoo executive to help in its online efforts. The company has hired David Ku, a former senior vice president at Yahoo. A Stanford grad, Ku worked at Yahoo for eight years prior to his departure last month. Microsoft confirmed the news, which was first reported by TechCrunch.
Ku's LinkedIn profile indicates that his specialties include "search technology, advertising marketplaces, response prediction, science-driven engineering, strategy development, online advertising, technology management." At Yahoo, Ku oversaw the company's search and display advertising efforts.
Microsoft said Ku will be joining on Oct. 29 in the Online Services Division and will work on a range of strategic initiatives "aimed at continuing growth and momentum for OSD," according to the spokeswoman.
In December 2008, Microsoft named former Yahoo executive Qi Lu to the position of president of the online services group. Ku is expected to work for Lu at Microsoft in his new position.
