Retailers are doing everything they can to tap into the power of social networks. And now Nordstrom has hired a social media master to help lead its efforts. Shauna Causey, who spent eight years at Comcast and most recently worked as a consultant with Google, has accepted a job leading the Seattle retailer's social media efforts.
Causey said that she'll help form the retailer's social media strategy, including overseeing a team that manages Nordstrom's Twitter and Facebook accounts. She'll also help Nordstrom employees utilize social media technologies.
"After working for Comcast for eight years and spending the last six months doing social business consulting for Google, I'll be working hard to maintain my geek factor in this new position," Causey said via email. "In all seriousness, many companies, including retail companies, have some big opportunities ahead to connect with customers and incorporate their feedback into the product life cycle. Nordstrom is no exception. They are doing a great job now and I am excited to help the company and its employees evolve."
Causey said that she had a few job opportunities in Silicon Valley, but she's excited to stay in Seattle and take on the new role at Nordstrom. She will also remain active in the Social Media Club Seattle, where she's serving as president elect, as well serving as a volunteer for Twestival Seattle and Startup Weekend.
