Seattle digital advertising company Mpire has raised $3 million in venture capital and changed its name to AdXpose, the company announced this morning.
Kirby Winfield also was named CEO. Winfield had been the company’s chief revenue officer. AdXpose also promoted Senior Vice President of Strategic Development Ryan Polley to COO. Winfield also will join the company’s board.
This is the latest incarnation for the company backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Ignition Partners and founded in 2005. In 2006, Mpire was focusing on an online service that allowed shoppers on eBay and Craigslist and other sites to figure out the best deals on uses products. By 2008, the company has shifted emphasis to WidgetBucks, an online ad network that allowed small Web publishers to tout products on their sites.
Mpire is taking over the name of its main product, AdXpose, a verification and optimization technology for online display advertising.
On 2010 AdXpose has signed up more than 100 new customers, including ad networks Adconion and interclick; platforms AdMeld, ContextWeb and MediaMath; publishers United Online and Cox; and subsidiaries of all 5 major agency holding companies
AdXpose uses SaaS technology to help advertisers and publishers track the effectiveness of digital advertising campaigns. And now with a new name and new funding, AdXpose can continue to focus on its ad-verification services.
The funding round was led by existing investor Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
