When it comes to combined performance in the Seattle area, Sprint is No. 1, according to RootMetrics.
The Seattle Mobile Performance Measurement Report rated Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon on call, data and text performance. And although none of the carriers ranked highest in all categories, Sprint got the highest score based on a combination of strong data download speeds and relatively few calls dropped.
T-Mobile was ranked second, followed by Verizon and AT&T, according to RootMetrics.
The testing was conducted in February.
RootMetrics says service was measured by the way the customer experienced it, and the rankings allowed phones to operate on the network specified by the customer’s carrier. In Seattle, for example, Clearwire’s WiMax network delivered data service for Sprint when the device was able to receive the service, according to the report.
The Seattle rankings are the first in a series of performance reports and corresponding RootScore Awards for the major wireless markets across the U.S.
RootMetrics will release a report on the Dallas market at the end of April and on the Miami market in May.
The Bellevue startup provides granular detail on which wireless networks perform the best in specific geographic areas.
