Microblogging service Twitter Inc. has been eyed by companies that include Facebook Inc. and Microsoft Corp. — and Google Inc. even made a $10 billion offer at one point, according to reports.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Facebook also may have offered $2 billion for Twitter, the Fortune article said.
San Francisco-based Twitter has raised more than $360 million from investors that include Jeff Bezos and Menlo Park, Calif.-based Kleiner Perkins. The website debuted four years ago at Austin's South by Southwest Interactive Festival.
