ActiveTrak is the winner of the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest’s Spring Northwest Startup DEMO. ActiveTrak won out over six finalists. The startup demonstrated GadgetTrak, its loss and theft recovery software for laptops and smartphones. The software uses cameras and internet connectivity to apply layers of security that protect sensitive data and locate missing devices.
The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology says cell phones may be killing off honeybees. The institute’s research found that electromagnetic signals coming out of cell phones are causing accidental swarming, according to a report by ZDNet. The bees leave the hive but struggle to communicate above the noise.
