Former Microsoft managers Praerit Garg and Bassam Tabbara, co-founders of Seattle startup Symform says they are on a mission to reinvent cloud storage.
Symform offers small businesses a unique way to implement cost-effective data backup services, with an operating a system that allows customers turn over unused storage capacity on their servers in exchange for online back up services.
To help kickstart those efforts, Symform is giving away 100GB of cloud storage for free to new and existing customers. For the same storage, competitors such as MozyPro or eFolder charge fees from $600 to $1,200, according to Symform.
Symform has about 500 active Symform partners, including resellers who cater to customers that include small- to mid-sized companies looking for an inexpensive option to store data off site.
The company is backed by Longworth Venture Partners and OVP Venture.
Symform has 28 employees based in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood.
