F5 Networks has purchased the intellectual property assets of Crescendo Networks, a computer-networking company with its former headquarters in Tel Aviv.
The Seattle networking equipment company acquired the IP and other technology-related assets through liquidation proceedings in Israel. In addition, F5 said Crescendo's core engineering team will be joining F5's Tel Aviv office.
F5 said it will use the acquired technology to improve its Application Delivery Networking solutions, the company's security and performance hardware products.
“With this acquisition, F5 will further strengthen its products’ ability to address both the continuing exponential growth of Internet traffic and the rising number of sophisticated security threats impacting applications," said Dan Matte, F5's senior vice president of marketing and business development, in a press release.
Crescendo was founded in 2002 and developed hardware solutions to help businesses accelerate and optimize delivery of Web applications prior to its liquidation.

F5 also added Skype chief financial officer Jonathan Chadwick to its board of directors.
"His experience in the computer networking and security software industries will be tremendously valuable as F5 continues the expansion of the vital solutions we offer our customers throughout the world," said F5 President and CEO John McAdam.
F5 said the acquisition of Crescendo’s IP assets isn't expected to have a major impact on its quarterly financial results, which will be announced in October.
