Medio Systems is tapping into the cloud-computing power of Big Blue in a big way.
The Seattle analytics company has struck a deal to use IBM’s servers to deliver cloud-based services for mobile apps, publishers, wireless operators, and handset makers.
In an announcement, IBM said Medio Systems worked with IBM to deploy 230 servers it could then use to offer its predictive-analytics services.
In an email, Medio CEO Robert Lilleness said the news was significant because IBM has targeted analytics as a major growth area for the company. Medio Systems has made big investments in predictive analytics, which tap into data reflecting the mobile-behavior patterns of millions of people.
“It recognizes Medio’s leadership in predictive analytics, Hadoop (the open-source software framework that supports data-intensive applications) and cloud computing,” Lilleness said.
Medio has surpassed 15 million unique monthly users, which Lilleness said makes Medio one of the largest cloud-based analytics services in North America.
In August, Medio announced that it is helping Rovio Entertainment Ltd. create more games and services around the game maker’s wildly popular Angry Bird franchise.
Medio is backed by Accel Partners, Frazier Technology Ventures, Trilogy Equity Partners and Mohr Davidow Ventures.
