Microsoft is scheduled to release quarterly earnings on Thursday, and analysts are expecting to see a continued trend of increased revenues from the software giant.
Analysts are projecting the Microsoft to report revenue of $17.25 billion for the quarter, according to a preview by Forbes. That is a 6.5 percent increase from the same quarter a year ago, when Microsoft reported $16.2 billion in revenue. Revenue is projected to come in at $74.47 billion for the year.
Apple, meanwhile, reported its quarterly earnings on Tuesday. Apple saw a 54 percent profit jump on a 39 percent increase in revenue.
In Microsoft’s last quarterly earnings report in July, the Redmond-based company saw record revenue with strong sales of the Xbox 360 entertainment platform, the 2010 Microsoft Office system, and Server and Tools.
But the Redmond software giant saw lower revenue from its Windows and Windows Live division, Microsoft’s second biggest earning division behind Microsoft Business Division.
