Google’s Chrome 15 is now the No. 1 new browser, ahead of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8.
The news comes on the heels of Google launching Chrome 16. The results come from Ireland-based StatCounter, an invisible web tracker that counts hits and offers real-time web stats.
This is the first time IE8 has not held the top spot since early 2010, according to Computerworld.
For the end of November and the beginning of December, Chrome 15 took 24 percent of the global browser usage market, while IE8 had 22.9 percent. This was trailed by Firefox 8 at 14 percent.
