Shoppers showed an increased willingness to go online for gift buying during the holiday shopping season.
Online spending for November and December 2011 reached $37.2 billion, a 15 percent increase over the same period in 2010, according to comScore.
ComScore said 10 shopping dates this season surpassed $1 billion in spending. Cyber Monday (Nov. 28) was No. 1 at $1.25 billion, the second consecutive year Cyber Monday led the way.
This holiday season has been a banner year for online retailers. Seattle-based Amazon.com scored big sales of its Kindle Fire tablet, which has become one of the fastest-selling consumer electronics devices of all time.
