More than half of the owners of Amazon.com Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AMZN) Kindle Fire said they plan to buy an iPad3, according to a study byTechBargains.com, a deal-aggregation website.
The Silicon Valley/San Jose, Calif., Business Journal reports that TechBargains asked potential iPad3 buyers what they want in their next tablet and whether they intend to buy the new iPad, which is expected to be unveiled next month. Of those who responded, 58 percent said they want to upgrade their current tablet and 74 percent said they believe no tablet compares to an iPad.
Apple and Amazon have been going head-to-head in the tablet market for months. Recent reports have cited rumors that Apple is developing a smaller iPad to compete with the Kindle Fire, while Amazon is considering a larger Fire to try to lure customers away from Apple.
