Amazon.com Inc. will introduce a larger, 10-inch Kindle Fire tablet to directly compete with Apple Inc.'s iPad tablet later this year.
According to DigiTimes, Chinese electronics giant Foxconn Electronics has obtained orders for a 10-inch Kindle Fire from Seattle-based Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and will begin shipments in the second quarter of 2012.
The news follows recent reports that Apple is developing a smaller, 8-inch iPad to compete head-to-head with the Fire.
