Amazon.com Inc. is looking for two executives with experience in children's and comedy television production, "to develop original series for the web and for traditional distribution channels."
According to the Wall Street Journal's All Things D, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) could be looking to jump into the TV content-production business. Amazon said the TV executive jobs would be based in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
As All Things D points out, the move could signal a broad move into TV distribution, beyond just streaming video, or it could be a toe in the water "that doesn’t mean much until it means something." The blog post cited "Amazon Studios," a screenplay-collecting unit formed in 2010 that has "yet to result in very much."
