Michael Simpson, a GE executive, will head up the new company, Caradigm.
The new joint venture between Microsoft Corp. and General Electric Co., targeting the health-care industry and employing as many as 750 people near Microsoft's Redmond headquarters, will be called "Caradigm."
The two companies made the announcement Monday morning, saying they're expecting the new company to launch in the first half of this year.
Neal Singh, currently general manager of Microsoft Dynamics AX Global Financial Management, has been named chief technology officer and senior vice president, engineering of Caradigm. Tami Lamp, currently senior human relations director at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), has been named "chief people officer."
The new company will develop technology to help health professionals use real-time data and "systemwide intelligence" to improve patient outcomes, according to the statement. In a previous TechFlash post, the companies said two uses of the technology could be improving chronic-disease management and reducing infections caught during patient care.
